Theresa Morgan, Director
Ms. Morgan graduated from Arizona State University in 2019, previously studying at Glendale Community College. In her music career, Ms. Morgan was a part of the ASU Wind Ensemble, the ASU Clarinet Choir, and the GCC Clarinet Choir. She was also part of the independent indoor drumline group, Breakthrough Indoor Percussion for three years, traveling with the group on their first trip to World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Since starting to work in the Paradise Valley Unified School District, Ms. Morgan has worked with both Pinnacle High School and North Canyon High School as an assistant director. Ms. Morgan has spent the past seven years teaching in the district, at multiple PVUSD schools including Cactus View Elementary and Vista Verde Middle School, and now Shadow Mountain High School and Shea Middle School. This is her fourth year at Shadow Mountain High School teaching Band, Orchestra, Guitar, and Percussion, as well as teaching Band and Shea Middle School. Ms. Morgan is a Shadow Mountain Alum and is very excited to continue the success and pride of being a Matador!
Cara Wheelock, Assistant Director & Front Ensemble Coordinator,
Cara Wheelock has been working with Shadow Mountain High School for the past four years. She has been working at schools and their percussion programs since 2022 after graduating from Pinnacle High School and has been participating in and working in percussion ensembles for 12 years. Cara is our assistant director as well as our front ensemble coordinator. Previously, Cara has also worked at North Canyon High School, leading their front ensemble to success in multiple years. Cara is excited to continue working at Shadow Mountain and creating more percussion opportunities for students.
Chase Cramer, Colorguard:
Chase began his colorguard journey in 8th grade at APW High School and continued spinning for nine years. He performed with the Brigadiers Winterguard in Syracuse, New York, earning a WGI Open Class World Semifinalist placement in 2017. He also marched with the White Sabers in Buffalo, New York, in the 2018 DCA Circuit.
Chase's movement background includes performing as a modern dancer with Casco Bay Movers and Southern Maine Community College in 2015. He has directed programs at Oswego High School in Oswego, New York, and Phoenix JV in Phoenix, Arizona. He currently teaches at Shadow Mountain High School. A local performer and Mister Phoenix Pride 2024, Chase continues to incorporate colorguard into his own performances while helping students grow in confidence, technique, and artistry.
